PHILIPS TForce Core LED road 40W 740 E40 MV
The TForce Core LED road 40W 740 E40 MV is a direct-mains LED replacement for HID SON-T street lamps. With 7,500 lm output at 187 lm/W efficacy, 4000K Cool White (CW) light and a 300° omni-directional beam, this lamp is engineered to replace the SON-T 100 W on existing E27 / E40 street-lighting luminaires without changing the reflector or optical system.
Plug-and-play installation: simply bypass the existing ballast, ignitor and capacitor, then connect the lamp to 220-240V mains. IP65 lamp body, 2 kV surge protection and 25,000-hour L70B50 lifetime deliver up to 63% energy savings over conventional SON-T systems.

Installation & Wiring
The TForce Core LED road 40W 740 E40 MV operates on direct mains 220-240V. For retrofit, the existing electromagnetic (EM) ballast, ignitor and compensation capacitor must be disconnected and bypassed. The product is not compatible with electronic gear or EM gear — connecting to either will damage the lamp and void the warranty.
Installation Steps
- Switch off the power supply at the mains breaker before commencing work.
- Open the luminaire housing and locate the existing ballast, ignitor and capacitor.
- Disconnect (bypass) the ballast, ignitor and compensation capacitor from the circuit.
- Wire the lamp holder directly to the 220-240V mains supply (line + neutral).
- Insert the 40W TForce Core LED road 40W 740 E40 MV into the E40 lamp holder.
- Restore power and verify ignition. The lamp reaches 60% light output in 0.5 s.
SAFETY: Always switch off the mains power before commencing work. Installation must be performed by a qualified professional electrician in accordance with local wiring regulations. Do not use the product in open luminaires or emergency/explosion-proof luminaires.

What HID lamp does this SKU replace?
This SKU is designed as a direct-mains LED replacement for HID SON-T street lamps. The 17W models replace SON-T PIA 50W, the 26W models replace SON-T 70W, and the 40W models replace SON-T 100W. The same lamp size and bat-wing light distribution are preserved, so the existing luminaire and reflector can be reused.
Can I install this lamp on the existing ballast and ignitor?
No. The TrueForce Core LED Road operates on direct mains 220-240V only. The existing electromagnetic (EM) ballast, ignitor and compensation capacitor must be disconnected and bypassed. Direct connection to mains is the recommended installation method. The product is not compatible with electronic gear or EM gear.
Is this SKU suitable for outdoor street lighting?
Yes. The lamp body meets IP65 requirements. For outdoor applications, the host luminaire must also provide suitable IP protection. Operating ambient temperature range is -20 to +45 °C for the 40W models, -30 to +45 °C for the 26W models, and -40 to +50 °C for the 17W models.
