CertaDrive SPS 24VDC is a constant voltage (CV) driver — it outputs a fixed 24V DC for any 24V LED load up to its rated wattage. Xitanium is typically a constant current (CC) driver designed for specific LED modules with a fixed forward current.
Use CertaDrive SPS 24VDC for 24V LED strips, signage modules, cove lights and architectural fixtures that require stable 24V DC input. Can I run the CertaDrive SPS 24VDC at less than full load?
Yes. The SPS 24VDC series supports partial load operation. For longest driver life we recommend keeping load above 30% of rated wattage. Below that, the no-load protection may engage if the output current is too low; above rated load, overload protection will shut the unit down. For a 100W driver this means a practical working window of roughly 30–100W.
What protection features does the SPS 24VDC driver include?
Every CertaDrive SPS 24VDC unit includes open-circuit (no-load) protection, overload protection, short-circuit protection and over-temperature protection. The driver will auto-recover once the fault condition is removed — no fuse replacement, no manual reset. The IP20 metal housing is designed for installation inside a luminaire, cabinet or above-ceiling space with adequate ventilation.
Is the CertaDrive SPS 24VDC fanless? Does it make noise?
Yes. The SPS 24VDC range uses passive cooling with a metal housing and a perforated heat-dissipation design — there is no internal fan. This makes the driver completely silent in operation, which is essential for residential bedrooms, hotel rooms, libraries, boardrooms and other noise-sensitive spaces. Compared to fan-cooled drivers, the SPS range has a longer mean-time-between-failures because there is no moving part to wear out.
How do I verify my PHILIPS CertaDrive driver is genuine?
Every genuine PHILIPS CertaDrive SPS 24VDC unit carries a Signify anti-counterfeit QR sticker (Validus Laser Verify Authentication) on the housing. Scratch off the silver coating on the sticker, scan the QR code with your phone camera, and the Signify verification page will confirm whether the unit is authentic.
